Are you a Regional Center client, or do you have a child who is a Regional Center client?
Would you like more control over how your service budget is used?
Are you interested in:
✔ Hiring your own staff?
✔ Using funds in creative and flexible ways?
✔ Working with non-vendored providers?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Self-Determination Program may be an excellent fit for you and your family.
The Self-Determination Program (SDP) is a California Regional Center program that allows individuals and families to take control of their services, supports, and future.
Instead of being limited to pre-approved vendors, SDP allows you to:
✔ Design services based on your child’s actual needs
✔ Choose who provides those services
✔ Control how your budget is allocated
✔ Build a plan that reflects your goals and vision
This program puts decision-making power back into the hands of families.
Many families find that traditional Regional Center services do not fully meet their child’s needs.
While services like respite, adaptive skills, supported living, and day programs are available, they are often limited by vendor contracts and availability.
The Self-Determination Program removes many of these limitations—giving families the flexibility to create meaningful, effective support systems.
We provide comprehensive, hands-on support to help families successfully enter and thrive in the Self-Determination Program.
Our services include:
✔ Person-Centered Planning
✔ Transition Support into SDP
✔ Ongoing Independent Facilitation
✔ Education and guidance throughout the process
We don’t just guide you—we partner with you.
During our initial sessions, we develop a detailed Person-Centered Plan that reflects your child’s unique needs, goals, and future vision.
This includes:
✔ Incorporating goals from the IPP
✔ Identifying unmet needs
✔ Addressing changes in circumstances
✔ Creating a roadmap for services and support
We take the time to truly understand your family and build a plan that is meaningful, practical, and forward-focused.
Entering the Self-Determination Program can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone.
We support you through every step of the transition process, including:
✔ Attending IPP meetings with you
✔ Reviewing and understanding your budget
✔ Developing your spending plan
✔ Connecting you with a Financial Management Service (FMS)
✔ Preparing all necessary steps for SDP enrollment
Our goal is to ensure a smooth and successful transition into the program.
